Martins River Bridge Phase 2 Completed

Thank you to the bridge restoration team from Allsteel Coatings Ltd in Cape Breton. We have just finished Phase two of the mid-life refit on the Martins River Bridge.

Phase One last year was the restoration of the masonry piers and abutments. Phase Two this year was the sandblasting, minor repairs and painting of the steel girders.

We are now looking for funding to complete Phase Three next year: the repair of parts of the wood trestle on the eastern end.

The life span of these repairs is in the 50 to 70 year range, so look forward to another two generations of trail users!!
